About
NYT
LaChiusa’s hot-jazz score unspools like a fabulous nightmare.
You’re invited to a party like no other! Join Tony nominee Jasmine Amy Rogers (BOOP! The Musical) as Queenie and Tony nominee Jordan Donica (Camelot) as Burrs for an unforgettable night in the dark underbelly of the city at the end of the 1920s. Guests include starlet Kate (Adrienne Warren, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical), her beau Black (JelaniAlladin, Frozen), diva Dolores Montoya (Tonya Pinkins, Caroline, or Change), and an assortment of New York City’s most colorful characters.
Michael John LaChiusa (The Gardens of Anuncia) and George C. Wolfe (Jelly’s Last Jam) bring Joseph Moncure March’s notorious narrative poem to electrifying life in their vivid, jazz-inflected musical adaptation. Nominated for seven Tony Awards in its original run, this musical directed by two-time Helen Hayes Award winner Lili-Anne Brown is full of irreverence, exuberant madness, and joyful defiance.
